Celebrate Canada’s 150th Birthday at Ottawa 2017
2017 brings the celebration of Canada’s 150th Birthday and events are taking place year-round. Enjoy one-of-a-kind events from Red Bull Crashed Ice to the Juno Awards or the 105th Grey Cup football game. The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ottawa West is conveniently located with access to Highway 417, putting you on the road to enjoying any of the events happening in Kanata, Nepean or Ottawa.
The edgy-looking entertainment locale fabricated of sea shipping containers will be located on York Street, and will be home to a succession of special exhibits and performing arts events. Each one will showcase Canada’s provinces and territories from May 20th to September 4th, 2017.
Red Bull Rallycross
For the first time in its seven-year history, Red Bull Global Rallycross will head to Canada for two rounds of action June 17 & 18 – and it’s happening right here, in Ottawa, at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum!
The double header event utilizing portions of the Rockcliffe Airport. The course will feature long straightaways and wide-open corners, allowing the 600-horsepower Supercars to reach top speed. The paved main course and Joker Lap will merge leading into the dirt section, just before cars fly over the finish line on the series’ signature 70-foot jump. With grandstands set throughout the dirt section and up to the finish, fans will be up close to some of the most exciting moments of the 2017 season.
2017 Scotiabank NHL100 Classic
The Ottawa Senators play the Montréal Canadiens in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the very first National Hockey League game, which took place in the nation’s capital in 1917.
La Machine will be a North American first! These large machines which will dazzle, and captivate audiences with its urban theatre on the streets of downtown Ottawa from July 26th to July 30th, 2017.
Underground multi-media experience:
Take part of an unforgettable underground experience with a futuristic and immersive multimedia production that will last approximately 10 weeks in the Summer of 2017. This event will highlight the once-in-a lifetime infrastructure project that will offer a new era of transportation in the nation’s capital.
Canada Day 150:
July 1st, 2017 will mark 150 years of Canada’s Confederation. Among the sea of red and white, enjoy some incredible cuisine, and an eclectic array of live musical/theatrical performances. Pause, and enjoy the splendor of the Canada Day fireworks at the base of Parliament Hill.
Interprovincial picnic in the bridge:
On July 2nd, 2017 the historical Royal Alexandra Bridge will be transformed into a lush green haven, where families and friends will have the opportunity to have a picnic on the grass and enjoy majestic city lines views of Ottawa, and the Ottawa River.

Ottawa will be home to the 105th Grey Cup! The annual football championship game of the CFL will be played at TD Place Stadium at Lansdowne Park on Sunday, November 26th, 2017.
2017 Canadian Videogame awards:
Ottawa will be a gamer’s delight in 2017. The Canadian Videogame Awards will be coming to Ottawa in November 2017, and will also host the national championship for gamers. Semi-finals and final matches will be projected in monumental proportions onto building across Ottawa. The gala celebration will be held at the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum.
